Also, as I've been learning more and more about the past (in an attempt to make all my jokes and witticisms nothing but a stream of obscure historical and mythological references), I cam across a list of the wealthiest men in history, and in particular, Marcus Licinius Crassus, a man whose personal wealth was equal to the total annual budget of the entire Roman Republic!

What's more, he earned this by seizing the property of executed criminals, many of which were actually innocent of any crime other than owning land that Crassus wanted. Seriously, this guy was a proto-supervillain! So great was his greed that when he was killed by the Syrians, he was beheaded and molten gold was poured down his throat to satiate his lust for wealth.

Seriously, people were much more interesting back then.
